40 Boy Scout Knots Every Survivalist Should Know

If you were in the Boy Scouts then these Boy Scout Knots Cards probably look familiar to you. I remember staring at these as a kid trying to figure out how to tie many of these knots, several of them I still remember today.

The square knot is great for attaching two ropes together, the clove hitch is used to tie a rope to a pole or branch, and the bowline is used to add a sturdy loop to the end of a rope.

These cards were included with a knot tying kit that also came with a white rope and a red rope. These kits were used to study and practice for a knot tying merit badge. However, these knots are not just for kids, many of them are staples in many outdoors-man’s skill set’s.

If you are looking to expand your knot knowledge then this is a great place to start. Grab some rope and while you are sitting down watching the television go ahead and practice a few of these essential Boy Scout knots.
